  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE511 engine Ticking noise...

JMK

Husqvarna
B Class
Hi guys,
I was going for a slower technical ride today when i noticed a ticking noise under acceleration... wondering if any one has experienced anything similar with their 449/511?
the bike is sub 5k kilometres, and has always been fed 10w 40 synth oil- regularly at that.

thanks for your time =)

i started it again this morning, and dicovered that its the clutch making the noise. the noise goes away when the lever is pulled in and is only noticeable when taking off. i know that suzi sv650s and some other bikes do this, and that on those bike its nothing to worry about... any advise is really appreciated

cheers

My 511 my12, also is louder with the clutch out, much quieter with it pulled in, I have noticed the same with
several other bikes I have owned, never had a problem.

ok, yea after reading around i was thinking it may be something like that... first issue on an otherwise great bike

thanks for the reply

The 449/511 DDS clutch is pretty bullet proof if it remains under oil. The revised Husqvarna oil levels are too low to properly submerge the clutch. 1150cc of 40 grade oil quiets the clutch.

Mine is noisy too, the additional oil helps, but it's by no means quiet. I thought that my valves were under attack when I first heard it, but since I also have an SV, I pulled the lever in and breathed a sigh of relief!
