  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE310 oil change intervals

Kyle Hale

B Class
Hello all,
Pardon me if this has been discussed here. I have a 2011 TE310 with approx 1600 miles on it. I've done a few oil changes on it and wanted to see how often you guys were changing the oil. The bike is tagged and I use it for dirt bike riding and also dual sport trips. What's a good mileage count to change oil if riding a bike in the dirt? Last oil change I did was at around 900 miles. I did two 300 mile dual sport trips (primarily forest/fire roads, some street, not 'dirt-biking') and I've put about 100 miles on the bike as a dirt bike - totaling about 700 miles. Am I due for an oil change at 1600 miles?
Thanks,
Kyle

I feel guilty if I go past 8 hours. The x-lite motors are pretty high output for their displacement, and don't hold much oil. Better to change it frequently in my opinion.

Now that my 2011 te310 is broken in I change at 10 or 11 hours run time . Seems to be about 375 to 400 km average. So Yes, you are way overdue.

te310 at 67.3h (2200kms)

I would say way way over it will come out like black water. I did race my tc250 but i needed it every 2-3 hours and it came out black. If trail ridden slow maybe and easy maybe 6-7 hours if trail ridden fast 4 hours. Just my 2 cents I have never had a motor so hard on oil.

I just changed the oil. It wasn't too black, so I think I'm OK. I change the filter with ever oil change. I just changed the oil and filter and put in motorex 10w60. I'm going to change every 8 hours here on out. Thanks for the advice.

I'm running 0W40 Amsoil AFF in mine (it's got a buttload of ZDDP and HTHS viscosity of 4cP), and I've got a stainless mesh filter on order. I'd be concerned about flow rates with 10W60 and a paper filter.
