As you might have read in my other threads, I got myself a 2011 TE310 with low miles (800) a couple of weeks ago and after some "technical" problems (some of my own doing unfortunately) I finally was able to go riding today (see my other thread on my first ride report).
Yesterday I did some final wrenching on the bike and I wanted to report on some mods I've made that some people might find useful.
Antigravity SC-1 battery
Yesterday I did some final wrenching on the bike and I wanted to report on some mods I've made that some people might find useful.
Antigravity SC-1 battery
I replaced the stock lead acid battery with a Antigravity XPS SC-1 unit. That's their best energy density unit and basically the equivalent of an 8 cell unit but with the size and weight of a 4 cell. The price is also fairly reasonable (as compared to other LiFePO units) at $109 on eBay (free shipping, no taxes).
Weight wise it came in at 420 g (just under 1 Lb), the stock unit was 2200 g (4.5 Lbs).
Here are a few photos of the installation (yeah, it's all zip ties, I'll build a proper bracket for it this week).
Fuel pump and fuel filter
I had to replace one of the fuel hose inside the tank (the one between the fuel pump and the fuel filter - the previous owner had replaced it putting a crappy non submersible hose that ended up bursting). As recommended in other threads here I used the Gate fuel injection submersible one. One of the thing I found out is that as this hose is much stiffer than the stock corrugated ones, it's much easier to install the whole assembly back in the tank if the filter is pretty close (1 to 2") to the fuel pump outlet.
Also, the plastic cap that fits around the fuel pump kept popping out when I was reassembling / disassembling the whole thing trying to figure out the right hose length. That got me worried that it would be doing in while riding, so I found a fix (see photo below): I used to small brass screws to hold the clips in place. Won't go anywhere now!
