  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2011 TE310 gearing?

So I just spent the weekend in the desert riding my 11 310 with a 45T rear sprocket and stock counter. My 50T rear was obviously great except for top end. Hard to ride with 450's and 525's etc. Put the 45T on and was not real happy. Yes top speed was better but climbing was not good. Terrible no, but enough to were I am putting 50T back on unless I do a long ride. I'll deal wtih the low top speed. Any of you guys had any better luck with 47 rear or counter change? I know it is a 310 so I'll deal with it. I love the bike. I don't like picking up 450's. To old and weak.

I have been wrestling with the same issues. I'm considering going to a bigger bike for DS use and relegating the hard off road work to my plated 2T KTM 300 exc.

Hi David

I thought the same as you and I have had a 47T on for 2/3 of my 310's life. It sits much happier at speeds of 70-80 km/h, although it still revs way to high to ride it like that for extended periods (more than a few minutes).

47 is the sweet spot for me, even for tighter riding. Dont have to slip the clutch out of first either.

Hi
Running 14/48 I found it the best compromise bewteen road and trail. very technical and deep water you need to cover the cluch.
