  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi just after a bit of info on what has been working for you 2011 310 as gearing goes
the bike is used for single track and flowing single track woods riding only
std gearing is 13/50 and 12/50 is the gearing im using on my 2010 te 250 and seams great ....would 12/50 be the go for the 310 or would 12/51 be better??

what has been working for you ??????

I have to ask what the deal is with the picture of Hitler? I am an American Jew who lost family to this mad man. I am by no means some left wing politically correct nut job. But, I have to ask what the purpose of this picture is to represent on a motorcycle forum. To the moderator, can I post a picture of a KKK member in a white sheet? I just laid to rest my uncle who fought against the Nazis. He was 92 and lost many friends in the war. This picture is an insult to my uncle and to those who fought for our freedom.

Im running the std 13/50 on my 11 310 , UK Enduros . On my previous 2 Huskys (450s) I had to go up 2 or 3 teeth on the rear but the 310 seems to cope well as is .

I would sugest you try it before making the change , as with all these gearing threads thou , it does depend on where / how you ride .

well tryed out gearing to day

13/50 ...felt very flat down low but was good if riding hard/racing in 4,5,6 gears

12/50 ...felt better down in the lower gears but needed to be reved down low 3,4 gears good but lost a bit up top if doing open fire roads

12/51 ...felt the best for me pulled very hard down low gearing very short .. could leave in 3rd gear in the very tight stuff and pulled hard out of turns.. 3,4,5,6 gears pulled hard could be in wrong gear and still pull out of turns and would lug any were....but the big down fall is you loose a lot of you top end speed if you are doing lots of open stuff fire roads......... this gearing i had the most fun riding the bike

so it comes down to what you ride ?????????????????

I was interested what you were saying about how hard you have to ride the 310 when I bumped into you packing up yesterday. Especially since you have the PCIV hooked up to it. But then again, I guess it is just a bored out 250, so makes sense it needs to be ridden more like a 250.

Also, given you are such a single-track junkie, the lower gearing makes sense. Not all of us find fire trail as boring as you do ;)

Didn't you say you settled on 12/51? Think you may just have a typo there.

sorry it was a typo.........yes i do like s/t lots and thats all i ride but i dont pay out people who ride fire trail ........what ever flotes your boat......but fire trail would not be as boring if i had a 450 or 511
ps...Arctra good to see you are liking your suspension im going to work some thing out with terry soon

with the Leo Vince exhaust, I run 13-52 for technical single tracks. 2nd and 3rd gears do the job

I'm 12/50, though my speedo has me at 100kph pegged at 11k in 6th ( feels like 100kph to ), the weird part is it should be 130kph according to gearcommander.com, something is not quite right.
Certainly 100kph is not fast enough, some of the sand tracks have bits where you want to be at 90-100kph ( I'm not keen on running close to the limiter in 6th ).

did your bike come with a 12 or 13 front sprocket? the terrain is quite different here from yours and almost impossible to use anything above 4th gear

13/50, but when new I really struggled with the idle->low jump, a jd kit helped heaps with that. So my thinking now is I'll go 13/52 or 13/51 & use race map II for the nasty 1st/2nd gear stuff, I rode a YZ450F with trail mapping for a bit Sunday, it's mapping was like race map II with a lot bigger mid punch, really fun bike actually & it's gearing was roughly 13/51 maybe 13/50 equiv in 1st & was ok in some pretty tight stuff.
