  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey all! We I just converted my buddies girlfriend's 2010 wr125 to a 144.. stripped the lights and extras off of it.. It will be used 95%for motocross.. only issue is the bike is Extremely soft!! any Ideas what springs I can put in the forks and shock to stiffen this rig up? not sure what fits the shock at all.. maybe a TC 250 spring or te 310? I know its a Sachs but with the sideways resovoir.. but are the springs interchangable!?? and then the forks? Marazochi.. but what can I put in there for a stiffer spring?? any help appreciated!

if yer gona moto the WR match the springs to yer weight and get the final part of the stroke stiffend up so you got some cush on crushers. more rebound deep in the shock stroke might help too if you go up on the rr spring. youll need a better transition compression-wise from mid to final on both ends. then, make it look like this and go wear out some honda ridin fools...mreeeeep!

Go to RaceTech.com and use the Spring Rate calculator to figure out what should go in the forks and shock for her weight and such. The calculator will generate spring rates that you can then use to either buy from them or used from wherever you can find them (classified ads, etc.).

thanks guys! I did try the race tech thing.. problem is the oddball brand of forks and shock on the husky bikes!! lol!

Here's what I got when I did a quick attempt for your friend's GF (or whoever it is):
Fork springs - FRSP 4146XX where XX is the spring rating the calculator generates based on the info you input.
Shock spring - SRSP 6228XX where XX is the spring rating the calculator generates for you.

If you need help with this, you can email me at kent@rutsoregon.org and I can get it for you. I will need to know rider weight, skill, height, type of riding, and if there is an oversized tank on the bike.

I attached a mock-up for you to look at in case you want to click around on your own.

Just call Race Tech, they can help you out over the phone and you can order what you need, if springs is the right choice.

You can also send the suspension to WER, ZipTy, LTR, Solid Performance, and a boatload of other shops, and they can advise on spring rates and also damping changes for the type of riding you want to do.

Hi I also have a WR 150 or XC 150 which has come from the States so maybe the same as yours. We recently had fork revalve and spring rate in Zooch's was 4.4 which is good for at least 85 - 90 kg, compared to 4.6 in my KTM for a 100kg rider. the sachs shock in ours was also rate tested at 5.0 which was stated as being ok for a 75 kg rider but could be exchanged with a heavy spring from a husky OR from a yamaha as well. Well thats what my suspension guy said......
So you have a few alternatives now ????
Regards,

Regards,
I used a spring off a GasGas with an Ohlins rear shock on my Husky and it worked perfectly.

I'm 185+lbs and use a .40kg fork spring and a 6kg shock spring. Down one on front and up 5 on rear !

For those that have had the sachs shock re-valved did you or the tuner get rid of the check valve and shim it accordingly ?
What are the reasons for this check valve and what are the benefits of removing it?
