  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE510 slip on - best quality, noise suppression, power increase?

A Class
Hello, I have been going through many different posts in regards to adding a slip-on muffler to my TE510 as the standard one with baffle removed is quite loud - but I do not want to lose any power either.

So I was wondering if people have had experiences with the like of:
FMF (3 types - Powercore, Q4, 4.1)
Akrapovic
Barrett
Etc....

And their opinions of these pipes, quality, noise suppression after installation, power increase if any and overall look and sound different ie tinny/deep/nice.

Thanks - I thought I would ask on here as many people have probably done this before me and know first hand.

Thanks again.

The only one that is any quieter than stock is the Leo Vince X3. Unfortunately, it is kind of pricey.

I have the FMF Powercore 4 and it gave my 511 a nice boost in the low to midrange but also gave it a nice bark, which I happen to like. I originally wanted
the 4.1 but found out it only fits the TC, I think. Didn't fit mine I know.

Jerbear, was there much of a weight difference in the standard to FMF?
I am guessin' the 11' OEM 511 exhaustto anything would be a weight savings- at least moreso than the 09/10' OEM 510 exhaust.

I am running the ARROW "OEM/PU" and am not personally motivated to make a change: I don't feel any exhaust that "may" make a significant imporovement is worth the money it costs (for me and my budget). Now if I trashed mine- I would replace with the FMF Q type since its fairly cheap and at overall performs at least as good as the Arrow (from reports)/ If I couldn't find a cheap used Arrow someone took off. I like the Arrow- and the ability to change inserts easily- I am currently at 93db per SAE-J1287 sound testing after repack.
Consider repacking your stock exhaust and save some dough-

I would think that there is a considerable difference in weight between the stock can and the FMF given the enormity of
the stock one although I didn't actually check the weights. The Powercore 4, IMO, is worth every penny. Looks better, lighter,
gives you a nice little boost and sounds very nice.

I put on the husky "slip on silincer" --Just a long perforated tube and it made the bike quieter with no loss in power after adjusting the EFI. but i'm still looking for a quieter exhaust. Will check out Leo Vince X3
