  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 te310 questions

im thinking of picking up a 310 for the sole purpose of making it a supermoto. are there any issues with the bike? what is the HP? the bike will be used for ripping to work and back and just all around hooligan action. has anyone tarded a 310? thanks and aloha

It would work, but I would get a 449/450 before I would get a 310 and then drop another ~2G's to set it up to a tard.

In it's stock gearing, it won't like extended periods of street speeds. Since you say sole purpose Motard, why not get a SM with the awesome brakes, ready gearing, rims and such?

A te 310 would be a pretty good thing if you are going to use it for just a street strapper. I have a 2009 te310, it makes 38hp on the back wheel using a super motard rear wheel. (Of my freinds bike) The new 2011 te310s make just under 40hp and are a lighter bike as well. Cost wise Buy a te310 and then you should be able to purchase a set of supermotard wheels with a front Oversize brake disc conversion and swap your rear brake disc over. And get out there and ride the wheels of it. Change your gearing as well, If you dont you could be reving the balls out of it and kill the engine.

Hi Pinittowinit,
I was thinking of this myself but have doubts on the longevity and lifespan of making any TE (250-510) a "Dedicated" Supermotard that wasn’t one already from the factory. I’m definitely no engineer or mechanic but my dealer stressed to me that the bike is not designed for long trips on road (same gear + constant speed above 80 km/hr = 50mph?). He said although it is designed for high revs it is not designed for constant high revs - on throttle/off throttle enduro trail stuff is what its for. I’ve heard a few different things like constant high revs at high speed can cause "hot spots" to develop due to the lack of thorough oil circulation and cooling of the gears (heard of this on this forum somewhere). Also one of my much older and wiser friends

noted that in modern style enduro bikes the top gear is only spec'd for short squirts when the track/trail opens up and you flog it for half a minute or so - in other words the design is for constant rotation between gears.

Its only what I think and have been told but it’s probably worth considering if you were thinking of any large trips on the blacktop.

Any updates? I love my 310 when I'm slinging mud, and use it for an occasional trip through town to grab parts or a hooligan ride to work, and have been considering a set of 17" hoops for it.

Looking at the gear ratios, 5 and 6 are overdrive gears, so I don't see how they can say that its only good for short bursts.

In summary. You can do it. But you will just have to accept that it is going to rev to the moon at any significant speed. Those high revs will simply wear everything out quicker. Oil Capacity is also very small so the same oil is circulating more frequently.

Does anybody know what supermotard wheel and tire size a 2011 TE310 can handle?

Will a 4.25x17" wheel with 150/60-17 tire work out in the back without rubbing chain / bridge?

Is a 160/60-17 tire possible?

Thanks!
