  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 TE 450, Will I be satisfied with the power ?

Hey guys, I have been away for a little while after selling my 09 SMR510
Are in the market for a "new" bike as i am a little hooked on enduro trail riding
I just loved my previous husky and just loved the power.
Will i be disapointet with a 2010 TE450 for a replacement ?
Or should i wait for a 510 comming up for sale?
The reason i dont look at the 449/511 for now is that i still have a lot of things for the older bikes; filters, valve chim kit, water temp sensors, iBeat and more

what are your oppinion(s) ?

Regards Juvkam

I personally don't think you'll miss the extra power. For off-road use - a 450 is really all you need if you are 200 lbs or under. If you're heavier, then maybe the extra ponies will do you good. But I believe, with the right mods- like most 450s - it'll crank around 50 HP which is plenty for the typical off road enduro rider. Then again, having extra power to grow into is always nice....

Also dependent where you ride, if you are in dessert or sand - maybe the 510 would have it's benefits. But then again, if you're in Norway don't think you have to worry about that!

I have both a TE510 and a TE450, IMO the 450 is snappier, revs out faster, the 510 can chug up anything a little better but takes a little longer to wind up. The power is just different between the 2, personally I like the 450 better off road. The motors are really the same, the 510 just has a longer stroke.

They weigh about the same but the 450 just feels lighter.

can anyone ever have enough power?

I have a 09TE450 and recently road and tuned a 10TE510. I don't notice much where it matters at all. The 450 does seem to rev faster overall but is a bit smoother, the 510 has more noticable hit that the 450 does not have at about 7000 rpms if in the right transition of the throttle. This is not put to use on the trail. Wheelies a tad easier due to the hit- but not necessarily where its useful or an advantage in my opinion. I did not notice the 510's added centrifugal force either. So, hmm? both are great, I don't "wish" I had a 510... the difference seems slight- offroad. I think for SM- I'd prefer the 510. Ultimately, for woods the 310 xlite has the best delivery of power and handling. In the tight woods I do envy someone on a 310 as having an advantage- BUT I am very happy with my 450 for everything I do.
That's my .02

Thanx for many good thougts, i am just under 165 lbs, so my weight should not hold the bike back
The bike will be street legal, so some road use/maybe a motard kit in the future
Guess i just have to go test drive this bike and get a feel of it

This cafe rocks

So, here it is.. Went for a testdrive and found its power to be satisfying,
Like you guys said, there may be a little less bottom end power, but it revs quicker and higher then my previous 510s
