  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 te 250 using oil

Husqvarna
Hi folks,
I have recently purchased a 2010 x lite 250(loving it) which I bought locally from a known person who bought it from new and covered 700 miles(sportsmen hare and hounds). It has now done 900 miles and starts ,runs lovely.no smoke or noise. My main worry is that it uses oil.(since i've had it)
Competed a 2hr hare and hounds today(fast event) starting with sightglass almost full of engine oil, at the end of the level was just below bottom and took 350ml to fill back up so it used a third of it's capacity.
I noticed a receipt when bike was 8hrs old for a camshaft and starter gear upgrade but also noticed that it also had written (only 500mls of oil).
I have spoken to the previous owner who stated that this was after he had run the bike in and he is not aware of the bike using any oil.
PS. he is a good guy and is genuine.
He only used the bike for the first 10 months and was unused for 12 months until I bought it.
Can anybody shine any light on this as I am going to upgrade to a 310 but don't want to sell it if there is an issue.
HELP PLEEEEEEEEEEESE.

My 2010 will do the same thing if you ride at high rpms....the oil gets blown out of the valve cover vent and gets sucked into the intake and is burned off. If you overfill the oil it burns more. If you fill to the top of the sight glass you are overfilling about 200cc too much. It only takes .9qt.

The 2011 models have a Rube Goldberg hose contraption that routes the blow by to the crankcase but I think that was an EPA mandated fix.

I've had it burn down to about 600cc and when I tore mine down recently there was zero wear in the motor if that makes you feel any better.

Just check the oil frequently and try not to really overfill it....it is easy to do.

I had the same problem with my 2010 tc250 burning 100-150cc of oil a hour and bike was like new when I bought it ,less than 10 hours use on bike. I told dealer I bought bike from about bike burning oil. He told me to send motor to him to check it out which was really great service on a used bike. They could not find any real problems but changed the rings I believe, oil burning problem is gone now. It will still use about 50cc in 2-3 hours of high rpm motocross and use next to none trail riding at fairly high speeds. I also notice I can run 6-7 hours trail riding and oil is clean in sight glass but 2 hours track use and it getting black and I do not slip the clutch alot just always on throttle hard. I did find something odd after last ride which was about 1 hour track use that there was oil leaking out the valve cover seal and hose that goes to frame from valve cover, it also had film of oil on it that blew back on shock and carb. It was not allot of oil lost since oil was over half in sight glass. I might have overfilled motor buy 50cc last oil change since oil was at top of sight glass after I filled oil up. Tc valve cover vent line does not go to air boot but to frame so is there something plugged that let valve cover pressure up, its never done it before only on last change when I put 950cc oil in last oil change . If you want give Scott at Ross Rocher Sales a call they fixed my bike oil burning problem and are great to deal with.
