• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 450smr magnetic drain plug?

sam v

Husqvarna
C Class
This is my first husky. I noticed when i was changing the oil the magnetic drain plugs has some play on the magnet. Is this normal it seems secure but the magnet does have some play on the shaft its on ?Sorry i don't have any pics already put plug and oil in the bike.On my next oil change i will post a pic. would greatly appreciate any feed back.

It's always been a weird thing in my mind but it's normal from the OEM, it's built in.
But after thinking about it engineering wise, I believe it's to prevent the brittle magnet from shattering or cracking from engine vibes if it were solid riveted to the plug. As it is with a little play it is actually floating and dampened from vibration from sitting in its oil bath in the pan.

Yes it's normal for the magnet to wiggle around a little. As long as you can't pull it off the end of the post there are no forces inside the engine that will pull it off either.

Where are you at in NM? I am in southern colorado. We should get together for a ride sometime. oops looks like you are on a sm. well if you ever get dirt tires lets ride.

Thanks for you response .That was fast to.I am in Albuquerque New Mexico I would like that.I dont have to many friends to ride with so I often find myself putting in work alone .I am able to take my bike just about anywhere with a good set of pilots .well almost anywhere.I have ran mine through the new mexico desert sand dunes ect and it seems to do pretty good .maybe not as good as the mx but me and my friends laugh at the places and hill tops we have gone with good old street tires.I am looking to get some dirt tires so i can do more aggressive dirt riding.seem to have less injuries on payment but i will ride any terrain that my bike allows me to . My friends brother lives around pueblo co and he loves the trails out there. He rides a ktm525 to much bike for me.

I can still hang pretty good with the smr setup . Dirt is where i practice my drifts sometimes . I think that that would be pretty cool a mx and smr tearing through the dirt. But I guess that i will just have to wait on some dirt tires still down to ride.
