• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi raysaw and a big welcome. What is the intended use ofn the 610 and where do you ride on Oz.

Hey Reysaw

Congrats on the purchase, I am off to haggle for a good price today, if you do not mind me asking, what did you pay, and where did you get it?

I have a starting price of $12990, new, ride away? Is this reasonable or should I push harder? What is a good price especially considering the 630 is on its way?

I would appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Craig

Hi Craig
Sorry for the slow reply, been busy with work. Firstly, there aren't a lot of bikes left in the country so if you are going to go for a 610 then they are in limited supply (In AUstralia they come from the Paul Feeney Group in Queensland (Aust Distributor). Secondly after a great deal of research I decided on the 610 over the 630 becuase it was a known quantity and buying the last of a model generally means that most of the quirks have been ironed out. Secondly, the 610 is a capable dirt bike but a dual sport, not a mx bike, so additional power (i.e. 630) didn't really mean much to me (the 610 has loads enough for me and I'm still running it on). They reckon the price for the 630 is going to be around 13,800 to 14,000 AUS on the road. I got my new 610 for $12500 on road, plus a set of road tyres thrown in (about $250 if I'd bough them seperately). Whilst I am running the bike in and getting used to it most of my riding will be on tar, when I get used to it I'll pu the stock Karoo's back on it and give them a thrash. Also, they configured the power up setup through it pre-delivery. They also delivered it to my house. I was pretty happy with that.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Nigel

Hi ghte
Thanks, I am wrapped in the bike. I used to ride trial bikes years ago, then road bikes, but always wanted to get back to dirt work - so the 610 seemed to be the right choice - I already know from the small amount of k's I've done that I have made the right choice. Without writing a book in reply to your question I will bullet point it.
* Wanted a dual sport as wanted to maximise time I could spend on bike (i.e. road and dirt - isn't being used for daily transport - just a toy)
* They are heaps of firetrails and the like near where I live, so intend to do some of that
* Intend to try my hand at some club enduro stuff
* Once I have got to know the bike I intend to ring its neck (in a loving way of course) and try it in a whole host of different environments
Thanks for the welcome - this is a great site I reckon.

Thanks for your reply Nigel.

I pick up my 610 on Wednesday. It is a bit hard to know what I paid exactly, I traded my SV1000 on it, Dealer quoted 12900 but gave me more of a trade then was I expecting, also fitting Barkbusters, Rad Guards and bash plate.

I am off to search for the "power up set-up".

Thanks again
