  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2009 TE 510 Fuel Problem at Low Revs

OK.... It is a bad ECU.! Tested Fuel Pump, it was ok. Then luckily a mechanic looking into the problem had a spare ECU to troubleshoot. Took it out yesterday it it ran perfect. Appreciate all the advise above!
Now to find a good deal $$ on an ECU new or second, maybe even something upgraded.. Any ideas?
Ride it some more. I thought I fixed mine, rode it for two days and it came back. This is the same thing I am thinking about for mine (ECU) so hopefully the ECU fixed it. Looks like I will be looking for one as well.

On another thought, could the mapping be bad in the ECU? It is a computer program so it is possible that is the problem, I'm just in the same boat so I'm thinking out load.

Logic says that if it has programming code in it, it can become corrupt. I'd have the ECU reset and reflashed and see what happens.

Sounds like a new common issue...and not a cheap fix at over $400 MSRP on a new ECU. I got lucky and found a new ECU someone mistakenly ordered for $150. I just hope my new ECU lasts longer than the first (around 4000 miles).

If someone finds out it can be fixed please let us know, I'll get my stocker fixed/flashed.

My local husky dealer has said the 2009 ecu cannot be reflashed.. I find that hard to believe. Anyway the price for a new ecu $350 au.

Ya, I think they're wrong. I've never seen an ECU that doesn't have the facility to be flashed. They have to flash them to get the initial programming on them.

And then there's this:

Phoned another dealer today, and he also said if there is an issue like this, reflashing usually won't work. Only works for upgrading a working ecu... Thanks for the info though! Good read.
