    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Yep reviews count big .... but not as big as winning SX / MX races ....

Below are a few words from the article and so true ... I remember the first time I read " The 450s are too big to ride " ... The letters BS came to my mind instantly... Most grasshoppers don't know it but it takes a 450 4t to keep up with a 250 2t ... It is written, so be it :banana: ... My entire life, I have always encountered guys who wanted big bore machines ... They are not for me, but I know 4 sure, some of you guys gotta have them!!

There is a theory (that is more old wives’ tale than fact) that the modern 450cc motocross bike makes more horsepower than anyone but AMA Pro-level racers can fully utilize. This isn’t true, for several very obvious reasons: (1) If you have ever turned the throttle wide open on your 450, then you know that you wanted more power. (2) No one says that you have to turn the throttle wide open; the power can be metered out. (3) When you ride a slow 450, you know it (and you wish it was more powerful).

In truth, what most 450cc motocross bikes need is more power! You may say that we are crazy, but going bigger than 450cc does not have the effect you think it does. While it is true that going up from 450 to 470, 488 or 510 does translate into increased horsepower, the real benefits come in the form of torque. Horsepower, for all its acclaim, isn’t as important as torque.


PS -- Nice article and lots of tips there by the magazine guys for a change ... They were even giving out tips on the forks they learned from the TC450! The starting sounds alot like my 250 ... get a full stroke off the kicker with a slow deliberate kick & it fires 1-3 kicks about 99% of the time...
 
I like the TC510 alot. I've raced it motocross 5 times since last September. I've only used it once on trails.
The power is very strong and smooth. Power like tractor, really digs in. The down side is, the bike feels heavy and wide for motocross. I raced a friends 08' RMZ450 (FI****************************************) and loved it for motocross. Much better handling. So, I went and bought one.
I still plan to race the TC (once my wrist heals). I might just use it for big tracks and cross country and the RMz for the tight stuff. All in all, love the Husky and glad to own it. Now I'm looking for a vintage Husky..
