• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey! Im looking to get my first super moto. I have narrowed my search down to a 2009 sm610ie and a 2011 sms630. What are the pros and cons between the two? I will be using this for commute and weekend twisties. Im having a hard time finding super motos in Southern CA in general! Let alone information. Very frustrating. Any help would greatly greatly be appreciated.

Well, as I'm sure you know they don't make either bike anymore. The 610 had a good run and the 630 was a one off. If you want a new bike, you should look at the new Husqy Strada 650. Other wise look for a good used 610/630 with the right mods, JD tuner, pipe, PU, etc... and the lower the miles the better. Good luck!

I guess I didn't really answer the question... The 610 needs less to run right, out of the box. The 630 will need a few bits to run right, but is fine once you do the proper mods. Both great bikes. If only riding on the road, young hy want the 630. It's a bit heavier and a hair more power. If you every plan on any dirt riding ( dirt is where it's at ) then the TE is a good commuter and easier to change to sumo if you want. Just a thought and then I would go 610, bit lighter and that's better in the dirt. The SM is harder to turn into a dirt bike. IMHO.

610 sm has different internal gearing than the 630SM in 5th and 6th gear (630 geared lowered)

630 has noticable improvements..
double overhead cam with revised cam chain adjuster
revised head and valves
improved stock seat
improved instruement cluster
improved blinkers
improved headlight/tailight
larger cc engine
stronger rear subframe
better kick stand

I'm sure there is more.

Will cost about $50 to equip the 630 with power up kit..

I'd look for a 630 if you can locate one. If you plan anything more than graded dirt roads get the TE version.
