• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2009 SM610 gear shifting issue (?)

dualie

Husqvarna
AA Class
hard to describe, but the last few rides on my moto, i've noticed a faint or slight "yank" as the bikes shifts into the next gear. again, hard to describe... shifting is normal, but the bike "yanks" into gear (?) it's most pronounced when shifting from 1st through 3rd. i tightened up the clutch via the adjuster, but still, no dice. anybody know what's up?

Mine does that when it's time to change the oil - how long has it been on yours?
bought the bike new with zero miles. first oil change was approximately 900 miles b/c i couldn't find 10/60 locally, so i tried to order it online. unfortunately, of all the online vendors, the vendor i placed an order with wasn't upfront about it being on backorder or out of stock. delivery never happen'd and excuse continued, so i cancelled the order and defaulted to 10/50 from the local moto shop. read a husky reference that stated that you could use 10/50 with the 610, so i went for it. anyway, just check'd my odometer and my bike has a little over 3200 miles on it, and according to the manual, the second oil change is recommended or required at 3100 miles. so i guess i'm right back where i started from. it is near or time to change the oil. however, prolly' won't try 10/50 again, cos' 10/50 hides neutral. anyway, thanks for your response. i hope you're right, cos' it's less costly than most solutions. anyways, i'll follow up with the results within a couple of weeks or sooner.

I have used Rotella T6 5W-40 and Amsoil 10W-40 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil in my bike (TE630). Rotella worked great, Amsoil gives me better shifting action and an easier to find neutral. Both oils make neutral more difficult to find as the oil gets dirty. I change mine about every 1200 or so miles.

So you have over 2,000 miles on your oil?? Mine starts shifting funny around 1,000 miles - and that's when I change it. But I do a lot of shorter 20-30 mile hard rides up the mountain and out to the coast which may make it break down faster. Change your oil and see how it feels.
