  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I started this thread to document my build from start to finish. I picked up a used TE510 a few weeks ago to have something to tinker with and huck around on base, basic transportation, and to play in the dirt with whenever I feel like since it is plated. I bought the bike from a older gentleman who was good about doing the maintenance, but not so good about meticulous care like I am. I have built several street bikes, the most current two a 04 and 06 ZX-10r, which my my admission, got a little out of hand (around 20K in mods on those). Well here it is , most of the stuff so far is just replacing what needed fixed, and adding stuff to give it my own little flair. The good hard parts will come eventualy. Here is the first round of mods.

Mods: Replaced BajaDesigns old school light and shroud with a Polisport Halo
Pro Taper bar
Pro Taper roost gaurds that double as rear view mirrors
Pro Grip dual compound grips
UFO Front Fender
UFO Rear Enduro Fender w/LED light
Mini LED turn signals
Guts Gripper seat (I kept this from the previous owners mods)
Not shown is a new set of OEM Number plates and tank shrouds with a moto-extreme graphics kit, I may or may not install (not sure if I want that boy racer look or not)
Besides this a lot of elbow grease has got the bike looking respecatable.
