  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2007 TC 510 Questions

Husqvarna
I recently bought a TC 510 and have two issues to resolve.

1) The Ohlin's rear shock has damaged threads the outside of the casing where the adjustment nut moves. Does anyone know which model Ohlin's shock came on this bike? (Part #, etc).

2) I was cleaning my bike after a ride this weekend and found that the inside of the chain is shiny. I looked a bit closer and found that the chain guide thing is also worn on the inside. There is an insert that was nearly gone. The chain looks straight and the wheel rolls smoothly. it looks like i need to get a new guide and insert for it. Is this a wheel alignment issue? Is this anything i should worry about? It almost looks like the guide is bent on the inside which would have caused this. (look at the last photo)IMG_1074.JPG

3) My rear brake disk has a small bit of play in it. The bolts that hold it on are all tight. It appears it's that way by design (floating disc). Does that sound correct?

I am brand new to the forum and happy to have found so many Husky enthusiasts. Look forward to getting to know everyone.

re #2: get a new chain and a new style chain slider. The new sliders are all plastic. Yours is obviously bent.

re #3: should be normal yes, as long as you have a full floating disc.

Thanks Powerwheelie. Any suggestions for the slider? I've had a hard time locating aftermarket parts for this bike.

It can be had from any Husqvarna dealer. I can´t find the part number at the moment, sorry. But I believe it´s off the 2010 models, but I am not sure. I tried to order a metal case with the plastic slider and my dealer told me they were not available anymore.

Might want to try this place:

To be honest, it appears your axle block adjustment might be off a bit, unless it the bent slider causing the chain to be to one side of the sprocket.

My adjustment has always been straight and the rubber insert and alum box were wearing away the exact same way.

For a cheaper fix, get one of the plastic cutting boards, they are made out of a very tough material, very abrasion resistant. Trace the aluminum piece onto the board twice, to make a psuedo-copy of the alum piece, no real need for a piece on the bottom. Cut it out with a jig-saw. Bolt that on the bike with what is left of the rubber insert. Mine has a couple thousand miles on it by now and I won't be buying any more rubber inserts.

I went to my local dealer (Malcolm Smith Motorsports). They had the parts. The aluminum cage and the nylon insert were only $40 out the door.

I was able to get it fixed. The axle blocks were lined up perfectly. When I held the new aluminum cage in place with it flush against the outside mounting tab there was a very noticeable gap between the cage and the inside tab. ALSO, when flush against the outside it was still out of alignment. The chain was almost touching the cage just like in the photos I posted. I turns out the tabs were bent. With a bit of persuasion i got them straightened out. Is definitely not an exact science but the guide is near perfect. The chain lays right down the center in the front and is just a tad to the outside in the rear but not touching the nylon insert.

Thanks again to you all for the advise and opinions. :)
