  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys.

I need help my stator coil recently went so replaced it. Battery still not charging and bike idles and revs up perfectly until I put load on it. She just does not get going. The headlamp is not working neither. Bike has fresh fuel fresh oil carb is clean all is good. Cleaned all points and re earthed all points. What is wrong what have I done wrong. I have tried 2 different coils and still the same.

Ok put another stator coil in. Tested battery and was 12.6 started bike. Let it idle for a moment switched off and tested battery again and sitting on 12.99 so its charging. But bike still has no power. I checked power to headlight while bike was on idle and zero reading on wires. Im stumped I dont know where to go from here. Why would there be no power on headlamp and why is the bike lacking power so badly?

I replied to your message, and I will move this over to Italian 4st where hopefully you will get a better response.

Can you describle the lack of power in more detail.
Why do you think the lack of power has to do with the electricity?

My daughter had a Camaro one time, it would idle and rev up just fine but when a load was put on it, it would cut out and not have power. The problem was the spark plug lead wires, they were carbon and had gotten old and were failing under load. Replaced them and all was good.

the lack of power is as follows, idle and rev bike, its responsive, crisp and smooth, once under load it revs and runs smooth but i can dump the clutch in first at wot and i may get the wheel off the ground 5cm, prior to stator coil it power wheelied 1st to 3rd. i am still able to get close to top end currently just takes longer and does not have that hang on to the bars pull. my friend pulls me from stand still on a ttr 230 where in past i would wait for him, as i mentioned i have done the following.

new plug
new oil
fresh fuel
cleaned carb and fuel petcock
checked valve clearance
compression
swapped an original brand new stator and the old one with rewinding
grounded all terminals
cleaned with contact cleaner and compressed air all plugs
