  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2005 TE250 won't start. Carby issues help

A friend of mine's 2005 TE250 will not run and when we took the spark plug out it was drenched in fuel. We have checked the spark plug and it is a strong spark. We can get it to fire by tipping small amounts of fuel directly into the cylinder but it will not run. We have taken the carby apart and all looks fine in there, the float is ok from what we can see but it clearly isn't doing its job because the cylinder fills with fuel when the fuel tap is on. Ideas and suggestion please.

What you typed makes no sense to me. If the cylinder is filling up with fuel when the tap is on, then how can the float be working correctly?

(forgive me if I misunderstood, not quite awake)

Make sure the carb bowl vent tube/hose is clear, if the vent to the bowl is obstructed, it will cause flooding and no running.

Clean the float jet seat area, gas and crud flows past this area constantly and if something hangs up in there, it will cause flooding.

What I do to check the float level, or even to see if the float is working (assuming that has a similar FCR carb that I have):

  • Flip the drain tube at the bottom of the bowl so it is higher than the carb.
  • Open drain at bottom of the bowl.
  • Turn on petcock.
  • The level of what is in the bowl should match the level on the tube, which in my case is see through (no longer 'clear' since it is a few years old, but I can see through it)
