  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2004 TE250 spark issue

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi all. Picked up a 2004 TE 250 with no spark. After doing some basic testing and being told the CDI had gone I got myself a Vortex CDI for it. Put it in and still no spark. Tried a few things and then tried an old plug. got spark?? Went down the shop and got 2 new plugs, put them in and no spark from either. Put an old 2/stroke plug in the cap and got spark. This got me thinking that maybe my stator is not producing enough spark to fire the new plugs but will fire the old ones. tried starting the bike with an old plug I found that fitted and it would fire but not run. Is there a test I can do on the stator to see if it is producing enough spark? Cannot find anything on the web so I am looking for what readings I should be getting. Anybody able to help? Don't want to send out for repair if not needed. Thanks

Hi silverfox, I also have a no spark problem on my 2004 te250, I have not managed to cure it yet but can let you know what I have done. I changed the cdi for another original that I have been assured came off a working bike, the stator has been sent off for rewind but the the company told me there was nothing wrong with it and sent it back and I have put the coil and plug on a ktm and it works fine. I have shorted the kill switch to eliminate that but still no spark. Not sure where you are but would be happy to swop any parts if that might help.

Hi. I ended up swapping out my stator for another, This with the Vortex ignition got mine working fine. Stator was producing a spark but not enough for it to run properly. I am in south Australia. Good luck but I would try another cdi, as its the only thing you cannot test

Check all your ground wires, and power wires to coil, the source of many of my problems on a 2010 TE450
