  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2004 TE 250 input

A Class
I am looking at a 2004 TE250. I am currently on a YZ 250, but the 2 stroke vibrations are really starting to affect my carpal tunnel. I've owned 400's and 450's before, but want to stick with something lighter. I never use all the power they had anyway. Does the TE 250 have enough grunt? I'm 200 without gear and ride primarily desert, however, I ride more of the technical enduro type stuff than the open desert. The bike's also plated which is a plus. The valves were replaced with stainless and the head upgraded to the 05. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated! Thanks.

A CA Plated 2004 TE250 with 05 head & upgraded valves would be of interest to me if I was in the market for a less expensive bike - depending on price. Narrower gas tank/ergonomics than the newer ones, some people have even converted newer bikes to those older style plastics (tank & shrouds) for those ergonomics. I've seen them around and they do look nice.

I've lost track of the details but it was completely ok to plate a dirtbike in CA until a certain official cut off date. Personally I would only buy a bike plated before that date.

Thanks for the input, I'm buying the bike. I'm buying it from a guy that does a lot of suspension work, so he is going to revalve it for me first. It's already sprung for my weight. It was plated before the cutoff as well. Should have it in a week or so and I'll post back with my first impressions. What's a good source for OEM or aftermarket parts?

Woo Hoo! :applause:

Please let us know how you like it

For OEM parts I'd call the dealers in that CH members have had good luck with:

And there are the market place forums on CH:

There are many others as well. Sorta hard to suggest anything more until you are asking about a specific product.

I have an '04 TE. It's a great bike in the single track. I added the 310 kit to improve the bottom and mid. Getting fatter...
Keep an eye on the starter idler gear. Mine and a few others stripped teeth off the gear. I lost my starter gear too.
Otherwise a stout clutch, revs well, handles great here in the Eastern tight stuff. Have fun:thumbsup:

Picked the bike up yesterday. So far, I have only been able to ride it around the neighborhood(Love the plate!). It surprisingly has more power and throttle response than I thought it would have. I just came off a YZ 250. By the way, I'm 200 lbs without gear. Looking forward to getting it in the dirt this weekend to see what it will really do.
