  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Okay, so once again I am needing help from the good people on this forum.

I pulled the right side of the engine on the cr to check the kick starter gears because it felt like it wasn't engaging until near the bottom of the stroke. However, the kick starter looks fine so I am not sure what the issue is...anyone else experience this?
Maybe just in my head-at least there is something in there!

Now the problem I am dealing with and would love advice on is when I am re-installing the side cover do I need to make sure I do something with the power valve? When I slide the cover back on the actuator arm on the pv is not in the place it was in when I took it off. And that doesn't seem right.

I suspect your spring is out of wack...125 kickstarters never break.

The kickstarter has a spring and a pawl that pushes the gear out and engages when the lever is pushed down.

Make sure the spring is on correctly....you have to wind it and place the end in a drilled hole in a boss in the case for it.

As soon as you push down on the lever the gear should move out.

Thank you, I will check tonight when I get home and post a picture if its still unclear.

When I had the cover off and put the kickstarter back on the shaft it looked like everything was working right, but I will check the spring again.

Okay I took a look at the spring it appears to have doubled over itself and is definitely out of the hole it needs to be in. The question is can I reuse this spring or should I get a new one. Hopefully this picture works.

Just wind it a bit more and put it back.

So that "sounds" easy and I will attempt that tonight. Kind of new territory for me and while its been fun working on this bike I am ready for it to be back together so my son can ride with me.

Also still a little unsure how to realign power valve but I am probably over thinking it.

Got it together, thank you.
The spring, I think was always correct, at least prior to me messing with it.
Anyways, working great and I think the issue with the kick starter was more operator than machine.
