Hi All,
I’m Trying to help a friend with his 2001 Husqvarna TE610e. The story is the bike became difficult to start, and then one morning wouldn’t start at all. From what I can see, there is no spark.
He took it to two dealerships over here that didn’t offer any solutions, but did charge him nearly $400 for work that I cannot see has been done!
So I’ve taken it on as a little bit of a project, and done some testing changed some parts and still can’t get it to spark. Here is what I have done;
Basic continuity test throughout the circuit, and checked all earths.
· Tested kill switch – infinite resistance when “off”, 0 ohm when “on”.
· Clutch switch – Infinite resistance when clutch not pulled in.
· Starter button – Infinite resistance when “not pushed” drops to 0 ohm when “pressed”.
· Neutral Switch appears to function ok, as does the Ignition switch.
· Battery on the bike was the original, so I’ve binned that. I’ve been using a battery from a KTM 950 supermoto which is showing a good 12.8V.
· The Ignition coil has been replaced with a new item, and I am getting a 0.5 ohm reading from the primary winding, and a 10.6k ohm from the secondary winding (with the plug cap on).
· The pulse coil has been tested for resistance, and although the unit itself looks as though it has seen better days, I am getting a healthy 95 ohm from the green to white wire.
· The stator has also been tested for resistance and I am getting a reading of 260 ohm from the red to black wire.
· As per a previous thread (http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/01-610-spark-issues.10109/#post-225889), I measured the “cranking voltage” on both the Pulse/Trigger Coil and the Stator. From the Pulse coil I get a reading of 0.2V AC, and from the Stator I get 36V AC. These readings seem to differ quite a lot (a lot lower) from what was discussed in the original thread.
· I have also been in a position to test a replacement Flywheel, CDI and fit a new spark plug/cap/HT lead without solving the issue.
I know there is a lot of specs/information there, but can anyone possibly help me with other things I should try? What could be causing those Cranking Voltage readings to be so low and could it prevent the bike from Sparking?
Any help would be very much appreciated. I see someone recomended calling a forum member, but being on the other side of the world could be a little difficult with timing issues!
