  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 2001 cr125 misfiring problems

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I have a 2001 husky cr125. It was my first bike and I absolutely love it. Don't think I will ever own anything but a husky. But at the end of last season the bike unfortunately took a turn fur the worse. My problem is that at idle the bike runs great but when you put a load on the motor it starts to miss and carry on and backfire. I have already cleaned the carb in an industrial strength carb cleaner bath, new plug new coil cleaned the power valves checked the timing and tomorrow I'm getting new jets fur it. The bike ran great all last season and then all of a sudden it died one day while on the trails. We put a new plug in it and it fired right up and was fine. Rode it to the camp had lunch and when I went to go back out it barely had enough power to move me. I'm starting to think its the cdi box. Which leads me to my next set of questions. Lol. How can I test the Cdi box before dropping the almost $300 fur a new one? And also I found a used cdi box for an 02 cr125. Would that work on my bike? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. And thanks fur the add. Husky fur life. Lolimage.jpeg

'02 CDI should fit fine. Before buying a new CDI, I would pull the stator cover and main connector of the CDI off and check for broken wires, connectors and that everything is grounded properly. There is also a number of repair manuals that you can download here - http://husqvarnaoutlet.com/repair_manuals. A multimeter set on resistance might help if you can pinout where each wire goes.

I had an issue with my 08 cr125. Turned out that the key on the flywheel was worn.

Check the basics before guessing on a CDI.

Compression
Reeds (remove and inspect)
Remove ignition side cover and inspect stator, wiring and crank seal.

All these won't cost you to check and you should know this anyway since you can't be sure of the history of the bike.

Yeah, compression check first. You can see the piston by shining a light in the intake and exhaust manifolds, remove the spark plug and push the piston with the kick starter. If it's black or has black streaks on it the rings are worn. Watch for wear on the intake side!

edit: Are those the stock forks and tree for 2001? Looks like 50mm zokes and billet clamps.

I honestly don't know about the forks. I don't know much about bikes I'm more of an auto and diesel tech. Lol. All I know is the shocks say something like fast by ferrachi on the side. During this whole process of trying to fix it with all tear down we have done my brother says its got a lot of high performance parts. So I don't know. Maybe.

Great news guys. The husky is fixed**************************************** It had the wrong size jets in it. Put the right ones in and it works great now. The only thing stopping me from riding now is finding the right throttle cable. It isn't the factory cable so I don't where to go from there. Thinking someone changed the housing at some point because the adjusting threads won't thread into the housing. Think I might just buy the right housing and get rid of this problem. Which leads me to my next question. Where is a good place to buy husky parts online? Every time I type husqvarna cr125 into eBay it gives me stuff fur a Honda cr 125. So where can I buy new parts or even used parts at online fur my husky? Any help is greatly appreciated guys. Thanks.
