• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm considering keeping the old girl but need to modernize her and put her on a diet.
I really like this bike but want to fix the following:
Weight...?
Suspension... I'm sending the suspension to Zip Ty for mods.
Power... Carb change? Any suggestions?
Exhaust...? Can't find a FBF exhaust anywhere.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks!

Weight... A single exhaust will be about the only way to shave weight, save some old Factory titanium parts.
Suspension.... If you're stock suspension, a revalve by Zip-Ty should be a revelation. Good suspension will help how the bike feels and may feel lighter.
Power.... Up-Tite exhaust and cam. There may be still a Factory high compression piston kit available. Try calling Fast By Ferracci. Caveat on the piston... it will make the bike a little harder to start. I had a 2001 TE400, which had the race version of the TE410 engine... high compression piston and lighter crank. Very fast in the open, but harder to ride when it got tight and technical. The person who owns it now, put it in 410 spec, when he rebuilt it.
Carb... Stick with tried and true. Later TE570's had Keihin FCR, but you'll have little support trying to make it work on your 410.
Exhaust... Back to weight and power. Call Up-Tite and Ferracci. I think George at Up-Tite could fix you right up and FBF might still have some parts kicking around.

I still have the copy of Trail Rider Magazine, that has the test of Marc Grossman's 2000 FBF TE410 race bike. Marc raced GNCC, National Enduros, and ECEA Enduros/HS. I'll dig it out and post some info. If I remember the main points... High compression piston, Up-Tite Cam, Up-Tite Exhaust with header wrap. I remember it had the cool (literally and figuratively) Cagiva vented ignition cover.

Thanks Norm. Just an FYI though... the TE410 enduro bike is different that the TE410E street legal bike.
The 410E was the same platform as the TE610E without the big top end on it.
I'll call FBF and George at Uptite on Monday (or Tuesday if closed) and ask him for some help.
Thanks again for the help Norm.

Sorry I missed the "E".... I have a TE610E and like it, just not best bike for me when it gets technical. A tougher project ahead of you.

Lithium battery and exhaust for weight, upgrade to USD forks /clamps and shock off an enduro model. Possibly an FCR off a later TE610 DS.

I just called George at Uptite and he will make me a pipe for it. I hope It gets built before next spring.
Suspension is going to Zip Ty during the holidays.

If you want to ride dirt and run down the road a little bit too get to it... A massive upgrade! Good luck with the choices!

Well, I rode the 350S and the 501S this weekend and loved the 350S.
The only issue is that $10,000 is too much for a dirt bike, IMHO.
I have to make a decision this week on the 350S, but can't justify taking out a loan for a dirt bike.
I may have to wait for a year or two for a used one.

I decided to keep the old 410, so the suspension goes off to Ty for some modification and I'll remove any unnecessary bits.
I'm hoping George at Uptite makes the pipe soon so I can get it fitted and jetted right.
