  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc 1999 WR250 upgrades - availability?

I recently picked up a 1999 WR250. After taking on its first outing at the Baby Burr dualsport this past weekend, there are a few improvements I'd like to make. I need radiator protection and I want to move the bars up and forward.

I haven't found radiator braces, guards or grilles listed for the 1999. As close as I got was the Bullet Proof Designs guards for a 2000, most are for 2000 or newer.

The closest I've gotten on moving the bars so far is from BRP: http://www.brpmoto.com/products?pag...page.pbv.tpl&product_id=2173&category_id=1524
They could work, but won't do ything for moving the bars forward.

If anyone has parts sources or ideas for getting this bike prepped to fit me and bounce off trees without damaging the radiators, I'm all ears.

Thanks

I got a reply from Colo moto in the marketplace section that the 7602 radiator guards and braces should fit the '99. http://www.7602racing.com/husqvarna_cr_wr_250_300.php

That leaves me with the bar mount question. I found a thread on 2" Rox Risers which look interesting. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/bar-risers.18696/#post-167926 Alternatively, I may just make an aluminum block that will reposition my existing clamps up and forward so I don't have to deal with the multiple pivots with my independent bar clamps.

Motosportz looks to be offering spacers to bring the existing clamps up, but I'll need to see if my clamps have an offset that will push the bars forward before I contemplate going that route. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/motosportz-bar-riser-install-pictorial-1-5.26064/

Does your bike have different height radiators ? I think 99 was the last year husky did that on the 2 strokes. If the radiators are the same height the 7602 stuff should fit nicely. If they are different heights you may want to look for some of the older stuff out there that was made for the different height radiators. By the way both radiators look the same height on the top (when mounted on the bike) it is the bottom that you will notice that one is a fair bit shorter. Husky made some reversable bar clamps for several years, what diameter of handlebars are you using 7/8" or 1 1/8" ? Last our bar risers will work with most of the husky bar clamps regardless of the size of bars. Feel free to ask more questions. Motosportz Mike.
