  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking to source a conrod kit for a 1995 WR250, anyone know if its the same as a 99 onward? I can find plenty of kits for the later bikes but not for a 95.

This thread will help you - http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/con-rod.44067/#post-428163

The rod kit for the 99+ WR/CR 250/300 (for us yanks) is 125mm. The earlier 250's (92ish to 97 maybe) used a 129mm rod. I used the Pro-X Kit 03.6320 on my 1993 WXE250 without trimming the pin, but you may have to.

Also, the earlier 250's have a 70.8mm Stroke x 67mm Bore, while the later 250's have a 72mm Stroke x 66.4mm Bore. Hope this helps.

Thanks Ben, I have ordered the Pro-x kit 03.6320, I'll post up how it goes.

Update - KTM rod kit arrived and appears to be identical to WR250, I'll get the shop to press it in tomorrow so fingers crossed it's a fix.

All went together fine with KTM rod. The one thing I did notice is that the KTM small end bearing has a narrower cage than the Husky. It looked like there was going to be a large amount of float in the bearing, so I swapped the needle rollers as they are the same length and dia from the KTM bearing into the wider husky cage. Should get the engine back in and running this weekend.

Update - back in one piece bike appears to run fine although I haven't had chance for a ride yet. From what I can see so far the KTM rod works fine.
