• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1988 Kawasaki KX125

Husqvarna
Pro Class
MXA 125cc MX bike of the year. (but not the other magazines choice).
Got it for free another project to get onto for fun and vintage events.
notables- it has a DMC pipe on it with an Answer S/A muffler all else looks OEM.
interesting this is a left side single radiator bike. bike has good compression feel and the PV shaft was disconnected with a missing snap ring. I have a good feeling about the engine on this one, I will try to do the minimal disassembly. New plastic on order, new oem style graphics, new tires on the shelf, new seat, and will need a new tank(has big split at the bottom) photos to follow

plan is to go as easy as possible on this one. make it look cool, but keep it cost effective. most expensive thing will be the suspension to Crow performance (Race Tech).
Race tech has the period tech data and the fork mod includes drilling the metering rod along with other mechanical updates, shock is a revalve and both will be re spring for my tank arse weight.

1988 KX125. more I found an ebay tank its on the way. colorite frame rattle cans paint on the way. pipe will be navy jellied and most likely painted like oem black to keep cost and effort down. big worry bike has a sand paddle tire on it......but with the PV disconnected maybe the PO thought the motor was going away.

I will salvage (the bead blaster and wire wheel will be working overtime. as much as I can with this one. I also bought a full kit of fasteners for it, but I also have access to my sponsor shop's supply of new in the bin hardware as well. Lets see how that maxima 927 castor coated the inside of this thing, it appears that it was last used in the 2001 time frame.

open mike.....if anyone has a line a good registration/title service company CA based. I got the bike with a well documented bill of sale......no title and it was last green stickered....XXXX. I want to try and get the thing properly papered before spending money on it. Guy who sold it is reputable but just did not have the title anymore. antique restoration clause? some sort of classic bike type registration, historic vehicle??

I have a hard and fast rule when looking at bikes. If it comes with or has a sand tire on it I pass.

Though if it was a vintage project at the right price...

We have registration express group here in Redding ca. not sure if they are state wide. They do have a fee but way easier than dealing with dmv. You may be able to get vin verification from chp and be done but I'm not sure of the history on registration you have. Usually bill of sale and vin verification and late fees will get it done. 4 stroke with paddle I'm ok with but a paddle on a 2 stroke not good...

I had good luck with McKee's Auto Registration on Broadway in Lemon Grove. They were able to get a green sticker/title for a Honda XR600 that I bought with outdated, missing title and paperwork. I don't recall their price but it was very reasonable. I used their services about 5-6 years ago. Give them a call at 619-698-8818.

Where can you get replacement radiator hoses? I got a beautiful set of replacement radiators for the 1986 KX250 I am working on but cannot get hoses as easily as the radiators. I got some hoses from my local Kawasaki dealer but one hose was NLA.

JIMSPAC, have you tried matching it up with something from a Honda, Suzuki, or Yamaha shop. you would be surprised at how close in design these thiings are.

The only problem is I did not get any hoses with the bike when I got it. The PO wanted $150 for it. When I found out he seized the engine by riding it screaming it for 10 minutes with no coolant in it and on top of that sold off the rear wheel, side plates, and kickstart lever. I offered him $80 to get it out of his basement and into my truck.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone higher up within the ownership chain had bored out the Electrofusion and fitted a bore-able cylinder liner.

been throwing up stuff on FB- I will throw it up here as well.
Front wheel DONE. Had time, a bunch of mousse pieces, enforce tire soap bucket and a Hi-Point tire on the shelf.

Need to throw this out- everything Inside of the engine, behind covers looks super clean. that's good news because I really want to do a minimal clean up......just enough to have a vintage mx track runner for fun.
