• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1988 510 side panels?

Husqvarna
AA Class
I miss those. Do anyone know where to find them or do anyone have a pair for sale? Are they specific for the 510 or can I look for panels from another model? With side panels I mean number plates.

Not the right pieces. They have to be black and as far as I have got it on Google, they are the same on the 2T 400/430 (1987-1990). Not 100% sure but the pics looks pretty close at least.

CORRECTION: I was wrong. Just heard fr.o.m. A Husky freak here in Sweden that Im looking for white covers. I have just looked at Google and got my own opinion. I was wrong. Im learning all the time :)

Do you have a link to the parts in France?

Im still confused and really dont know exactly what Im looking for. Have seen photos on 1988 510s with more than one kind of side panels. Ill put up a pic on the bike when its restored later this winter (April-May). Then you Will be able to help me find the right parts. I guess Ill need more than the panels. Just hope I dont get surprised when I take the engine apart.
Cheers/Ola

I think the panel silverstreak showed is correct. The air box is black and rounder than the one shown in Visiteur's pictures.

Didn’t the 88 four strokes get black panels and 87s got white??? Thought I remember reading that somewhere here on the forum. Could be wrong...

Try DC Plastics. They are the source of HVA plastic. http://www.dcvmx.com
If they do not have them, if someone can loan them a set they can make their vacuum molds off them without harming the originals

I got the DC plastics for my old 86 WR400, they are not very good fitting. I made them work.

86,87 and 88 look like they have the same side panels.
88 has the new tank and shrouds, same air box and side panels with a pipe on each side like 85,86 and 87.
87 looks like a 86 2 stroke with a white tank.

Well, as long as they fit Im ok. I have seen both black and white 88s and as long as I dont know at what frame number they made a change Ill search for both. I need them for the numbers as Ill compete with the bike. I can always solve the problem with homemade last solution plastic, but I prefer NOT. Even though its an old bike, it would be nice to be at least a little proud of it. A homemade solution will make it look like something the dog dragged home.

the 1989 models had the black side panels and airbox cover like the 87/88 2 strokes. 86,87,88 510's have the white ones as 86400XC pointed out earlier.

Well, guess my bike is kinda odd then. Its the 6th last bike that left the Swedish factory according to the frame number. It has the black airbox like the 1989. It has the 40mm WP USD forks. I have also talked with an owner from the early 90s. It was made like that and not updated by an early owner. So far thats what I know. Im still trying to get in contact with the first owner. Will get you an update if I come up with something new.
