• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Use a premium 4 stroke oil , change it alot, don't let the motor get too hot, remember there only a very small oil screen NO regular oil filter,
so treat her like your sister.

And when (not if) the cam chain gets stretched out it wipes out that little screen. Think briggs and stratton splash lube. Does anyone actually pull the clutch off to clean that little reed valve used to get oil to the head. I never have and am on my third cam chain. I havn't put a lot of use on my tsubaki cam chain in bulk from the bearing dist but the ones stuck to a cardboard from the dealer might not be very good but maybe I have an issue. Keep the swingarm pivot bolt tight hopefully it isn't wore out in that area. Those linkages have a lot of pieces. you might have to weld the subframe on That was I ended up doing so the rear would stay pointing straight back, mine is an 88.

Jon,
So did you buy this bike? (off Ebay) I emailed the guy to tell him it was a 510 not a 300,
clueless LOL

Hi John- yes it the one off E-bay! Was able to contact the guy,my shipper will pick-up this weekend! He had the bike tuned up and runs starts excellent, bike sat since 1996 from original owner! I even get all the ownership paper work! Yee Haa...

Tip:
Run your rear brake cable loosely otherwise it will lock up the rear wheel at maximum swingarm travel. Quite annoying to keep stalling the big thumper.

Read a while back in an old MX Action: make sure the air filter has a metal screen in front of filter, so there's no possibililty
of a fire if it back fires. Along the same lines, zip tie the carb so it can't blow off rubber intake boot. They said
they had it happen on the trail

during heavy deceleration.

Welcome to the 510 club
