• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My Cat Says AREAR!
I picked up a new Husky today, as the 72/450cr is pretty much done and the 73/360rt is on restriction (poor availability of parts). Pretty rough but pretty complete. Here's the first look. I'll take some better pics later and hope you guys pick it apart so I know what's missing and what is not supposed to be there. Since joining the site I have seen them and wanted to get one. See, it's your fault, and my wife fell for it. Any and all advice for parts or repairs are welcome. Also, Thanks for the help with the 450! With Luck and this sites help this Bike will turn out even better.

nice primary kick husky! you will have a much easier time restoring this one and it will be a blast to ride too. great chassis that absorbs and plows through anything. engines and transmissions swap around with these 80s beasts too.

as a side note, i would strongly recommend installing the "straight" kick lever. easier on the shaft and easier to kick if you have any height. i hate the bull horn!!

I'm a little nervous about the condition, it does turn over, but is pretty rough. On the bright side, I did not feel any dents in the tank and the rear motor mount through the motor feels ok. Hopefully I will find a standard bore, and trans used by a scaredy cat.

what a beast, Phil at husqvarnaparts will have all you need. download a parts manual and start spinning spanners:popcorn:

I thought it was the wrong one. The way it is leaving a divot in the cylinder. I probably won't get serious with this bike till next yr. I've got a LOT of projects. And my workload has increased exponentially. Doesn't mean I can't collect parts in the mean time. I'll get some good pics Sunday. I've been to NY, Conn, Mass, NH and Pa since yesterday morning. UGGH!

Hahahah, very funny. I guess the crack in the rear wheel was 50% as bad as the front wheels. I'll rebuild with better stuff. But those will keep it out of a crate.

yes..standard on that year 500.
question, what will be your goal in this restoration? a proper exact resto? a good rider that is built right? something in between?
