  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I have issues on my WR 500: no more spark......I replaced several SEM coils but still nothing. Almost sure the stator is gone....just to check it....how I can test it ? Any suggestion / advice will be more than appreciate.
Thanks

Joe,
below are some scans I had that may help you diagnose the problem. Not all the scans are likely your exact ignition, but the methods are probably similar. You probably already have, but double check all of your grounds and sand them clean of any paint or corrosion (coil to frame, stator parts in case, front engine mounts and rear engine mounts. I have also seen where people's kill switch was causing problems, check that as well. Good luck, Scott

File the ignition under 'B' for Bin and buy a new one! Usually on a SEM you do not get a spark until you kick it to 5 or 6 hundred revs. This is quite hard to do even when everything is in good order. Sold a new one (spark from 200 revs) to a guy in Ireland recently and he says he can now start his 500 in his Slippers!
That is brave - I don't recommend doing that....

Andy.

I have those on my 125s and 430's and you can kick 125 by hand a 430 in slippers (but wear a boot always)

Guys, THANKS !!
Andy, as soon as I have the money I will buy it. I trust you. I guess it will be in a couple days.
The 500 WR is my favorite but always a fight starting it...my friend broke his foot firing the engine last week.......

Have a puller on hand for stocker as well as a TDC dial indicator. Keyless flywheel som dial indicator is a must.

thanks for the info Scott, just tested my rig on the bench and all measurements are good, hopefully can swing it upto 500rpm with the decomp and the longer husaberg kicker.
