• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looks like i need to replace my stock 40mm mikuni any suggestions.I have a 1983 cr500 motor in a 1984 wr500 frame the wr500 motor has a broken cylinder sleeve and bad head.Question the 83cr500 is a 4speed the 84wr500 is a 6 speed would it be very hard to switch 4to 6speed.by the way the 83 500 is a complete bike just needs new carb the84500 has the cases split.P.S.do the flat side carbs work better. Also I used to have 1980 390 will the 500 ever have that tractor like feel of the old 390?

If moto only then 4 speed, 6 speed is OK for all else but has tendency to break. Go with a 38mm carb, the bike will be a lot easier to start & jet. I have a new 38mm Mikuni TMX that will bolt on.
No, it won't feel anything like your 390.

l put a 38mm mikuni flatside on my 1986 XC400cc, i did a complete rebuild at the time so its hard to say how much of the power inprovment came from the carb, but it makes it very easy to start (pretty much first time every time when you get the hang of it).
l now have the same carb on a 1985 500cc, its not jetted/tuned properly yet, it still makes it easy to start.
ln 87-88 Husky adopted the 38mm mikuni flatslide on the 500cc from the factory. l took the stock jetting specs for the 500cc LC which are;

1 x needle valve ass 3.0 mik # 786-46001
1x needle jet R 0
1x jet needle 6F8
1x pilot jet #35
1x main jet #350

As a place to start from,l have the brass coming from evilbay around $36, the carb also from evil bay $145 new.

l will know in detail a couple of weeks.

Northern- a 35 pilot with 350 main? Seems lean but if that's what the factory spec'd then hey!

Thats the factory specs, all the information is in the tech section.

I have 440 main and 40 pilot in the TM38 on my 4 speed 500.

When i bougt the carb from suduco they said : not even look at the L/C specs, way to lean on a aircooled engine.
