• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Here we go again. Picked this 83 CR 500 up from a mate a couple of weeks ago.

Promised myself I wasn't going to strip it, but I found a lovely frame break, so decided the frame needed to be welded and powder coated. The 4 speed motor is not going to be stripped....Honest...!!IMG_2022.JPGIMG_2017.JPGIMG_2022.JPG IMG_1985.JPGIMG_2017.JPG

I fixed a frame break like the one that is welded in the above photo. I would grind it down and reweld running a series of overlapping beads across the break and continue around the diameter of the tube. I can see from here that weld will separate in no time at all

you would think but i had a frame break there as well...i think high speed wheelies or rolling down an aborted hill climb are a big contributor

When the sprocket is worn out it will be changed for pale gold, but it seemed daft to change it as it was put on by the previous owner and almost brand new...:)

It was ridden last weekend. It will be ridden next weekend.....and probably another 10 or so times before the year is out.

but it looks so damn good...how could you ???any chance of getting a clip of it being thrashed within an inch of its life?

Good to know you will ride it Steve. That means you will eventually need to buy a sprocket!!!

(Looking good mate!)

Andy.

Shame you didn't bring it to Dartmouth the other weekend Steve. You two could have raced for a sprocket. It would be interesting to see the difference in lap times between the 500 & Andy's 300. I am guessing not much :)

Sold the KX 500 Andy, so need to invest some wonga in more Husky bits....one of those clutch covers would be nice...need some chain tensioners x 2 for the 83 and 82.

Any other suggestions for the 500, address them to the wife as she vets my spending....:)
