• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1983 430 racer build

86 400 XC

Husqvarna
Pro Class
This is my next project

A bike to ride a ton and let the 82 500CR sit on the side lines and look pretty.

This will be a silver frame and tank with a black seat, air box and side panels.

Get the paint off the cylinder and head like the 82s

Got 2 frames to start with and 430 XC motor.

Quick mock up with my 82 seat and the tank that will stay on this bike.

Well got another frame coming :).
The other frame is a WR and has the steering lock and thats not race bike looking material.
Huskydoggg is hooking me up with a 84 XC frame, found a NOS seat, air filter cage and a new air boot from Husqvarna-parts.
Got a few 38mm carbs to use, would like to find a internal flywheel and a mag also so i can ditch that mega wire coil and heavy flywheel.
On the hunt for nice muffler and side panels next.

Great project! I can't tell you how much I wish Husky had kept the 82 look with the new ITC frame. Glad to see that you're doing it. Also a good idea to have a "rider" so you can keep the 82.5 lookin' pretty!

Thanks, The 500 is fun but like you say its kinda rare.
My old bike and last one before this bunch back in the late 80s was a 82 430 XC, i had so much fun on that bike.
So I am really looking forward to riding and the feeling of banging gears on a 430 XC once again.

LOL the milk truck years...

I now have all the parts, new frame bearings and some used goodies.
Started the real work today. The S/A is bare and fixed the kickstand mount.
Frame mods done, got another powder coater to check out hope they have the right silver.
Hope to get it out soon. :)

Took the unused tube off above the foot peg

kickstand mount had an ugly thick gusset added, its gone

made many off the welds look cleaner

Cut the loop off. Was an 84 XC frame, want part of the CR look but not CR rear brakes.

Tiny crack and the pipe rubbed threw here

Nice mint rim i stole from the wifes 83, it had a crack in the rim.

NOS seat, needs a color change to black, the other seat in pic was off the 82.

Got a new rear feander and a correct looking 82 front fender.
Many other new bits sitting here too for it.

Doing black side plastic and air box.
Plasti dip paint in black, works and looks great.

"Cut the loop off. Was an 84 XC frame"
I want do the opposit with an 84XC frame so if you are willing to sell or trade it I am interested at it.
Thanks

Another guy asked for the loop awhile ago sorry.

More frame mods

bye bye XC/WR bars it will sit nice on a flat stand now.
Took the SEM coil mount off too.
Sand blasted and in primer, not seeing what i want in powder for a color so it looks like its paint time.

Seat cover later, went with vinyl paint it works really good but will wear off a little.
Not sure about the yellow back lol

Good eye, its my 89 2.3 Turbo

meth inj, 30 psi, 35 shot to spool the C4 auto 400 rwhp 11.40 @ 123 mph 2700 lbs

Had an idea but blue sharpie did not come through as planned, so went with black.
Maybe keep the look going onto side round yellow number plate backgrounds with the same Husqvarna font at the bottom and a black boarder.
