• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1980 390CR value?

Hi Gang,
I have the chance to buy a, in very good condition 1980 390CR. All original except it has an 81 420 top end, 81 side panels and an aftermarket silencer. Engine has a fresh top end, bottom end and clutch. New reeds, seat cover and tires. Priced at $2200. My question is, is this a fair price?
Thanks,
Pete

I would say this is a very good price. Was this bike on ebay recently? A good condition 1980 390 went for 3000 pounds on ebay recently here in the UK, and I think it might have been a hybrid. It was described as a CR but it had an OR frame with the rear frame loop and the different rear brake set up, plus the steel OR tank. The engine had a CR390 label on the clutch cover, but that doesn't mean it was a CR engine. It could have been the original OR engine with this CR label on it. Anyway, all that is academic, the bike fetched 3000 pounds, so 2200 US dollars seems good to me if its in good condition.

The 1980 CR 390 was the best of the 390's and if it has the 420 conversion even better...( the only 390 that you could do this on) if it is indeed in very good condition $2200 is fair...

Question you may want to ask is if the expansion chamber was modified for the 420 conversion....In any case .. I wouldn't hesitate... it won't be there long...

Yea but they did remove the air box for the trick k&n type filter. That,s gotta be worth a grand right there.
