  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1976 250 WR wear pad question

Did the 1976 250 WR swing arms come with chain wear pads? My bike does not have one and the swing arm has significant gouges from the chain riding across the top, where the engine mounting bolt goes through the swing arm. I’ve seen pictures of bikes with and without them. If there should be a pad how does it attach to the swing arm? There are no mounting holes on my swing arm. Thanks!

Im not sure if they had one from the factory without looking in the parts book, but you can use one from a 78 or newer Bultaco Pursang or Frontera, its factory part # 206 16 031 1,Hughs Bultaco in Craryville,NY has them

Thanks Dave for the info and source. Have you used these in the past on a husky? how does the outer flange interface with the frame and swingarm? it looks too thick. I appreciate the the response.

Here are pics from my '76 250 WR. They show a rubber pad that bolts to two tabs mounted on the front of the swingarm. I have two 1976 360 Auto rollers that have the same tabs:

Thanks for the picture post. That's interesting. My swing arm does not have those tabs. I wonder if it was an improvement added later in the year. I've also seen other style pads that are bolted straight to the swing arm. Not sure if the threaded holes were factory or added by the owner.
