• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

19-20 MAY 2012 West Chec 2 day qualifier Enduro Rnd 5

I'm going to do one day - just not sure if it'll be Saturday or Sunday. The Qualifire is always fun but I'm not sure how much variation in trails there will be for a two day event. Now, if it was like the old days (circa 1985), then it would be another story. Imagine if they could route you up the original Snowy then down Millers Jeep trail and over to Piru Creek. Oh well, fun to think about.

Are you going to the Vikings National H & H this weekend? I'll be there helping the club - should be a fun event. Fun to watch the top guys come through the checks - simply amazing how fast they are, even at the end of loop two.

No more H&H for me. The TE310 is not the bike for H&H (IMHO).
Trying to see about my crew for the 2 day but we need to get cracking, entries are in the 190s all ready with a 240 limit. I have never ridden "Gorman". I am just hoping for some new stuff, Ive seen hcam vids from there and from what what Ive seen it doesnt excite me too much (it looks fast), I prefer slow and tough or just slow with lots of hairpins. (Slow and technical is better for the 310 and my old arse)

Signed Mag Hwt Int (B) to stick with my class for 2012 (see other post). 2 days of fun!! Looks like we have at least 2 others from our local group signed as well.

If any CH Husky guys want to ride the same minute contact me. It would be fun to have an all Husky row (or 2 or 3!!). So far we do have SanDHusky and myself, but waiting on word from some others. R

Love the 310 as it was. But for this event Im afraid she needed the S/A dB plug reinstalled to pass tech. Went out for a group few hour test.......now she does not start well when hot and she lost quite a abit of mid range, needs lots of clutch in and out of corners. Just glad I rode it for a few hours before the 2 day. at least I know what to expect.

I can't make it this year, but in the past they've run the course up Devils Butt Crack (not a marked trail, just what it is called).

A lot of fun, not nearly long enough but I always have a big smile the whole way. There is a lot of manzanita trying knock you in the head or rip your shirt. There's also a couple manzanita trunks and rocks to slam your case into. I wish it was a bit longer but definately a great trail. Have a great ride next weekend.

thanks for the viddy, I hope most of the specials will be just like that. I dont like fast stuff/quad trails too much. That is what we ride for the most part just add more rock gardens. Thanks R

I will be there both days. Should be fun, but I hope if we will have enough terrain to really keep it interesting for two full day. I have the 2012 300 Gas Gas, should be a good test for it.

The forecast is 75 for sat, 79 for sun, so it might a tad warm. The sun can really bake you up there.

Thanks Chilly, As long as its under 80 my olde arse should be ok. Also I still have one of those sixsixone water absorb gel cooler neck things, that always helps me deal with heat as well as pouring water on myself.
TE310 kinda lost its mojo with the S/A-dB plug reinstalled but the trails there look a little flowing so I hope not to abuse the clutch too much. Got a good Pirelli scorp FIM pro in front and a beater hacksaw cut FIM pro out back.
See y'all there, Dai (UK) and Me and my pit crew (kid) will be there. Fri eve-sun. May rent a van for this one, Go Husky,Go RynoPower,Go Brux. RN

Looks like I won't make it out there after all - family obligations. I remember riding Butt Crack the first time VCMC used it - guys were laying along side the trail, exhausted and with their clothes off - seemed to me it would have been easier to walk out because it's so short. It's no harder than Troll Trail (at Hollister) or the trail at Ballinger (can't remember the name) that CCMC ran us down three times during the Leapin Lizard enduro.

You'll have fun on it and the trails in the LPNF. Watch out on the transfer sections in the park. The club does its' best to control the traffic but there's always some jerk who wants to ride backwards on the trails used during the race. Fortunately the special tests are closely controlled and you shouldn't have any problems there.

Good Luck - wish I could be there.

+1 on being careful in the transfer sections. The times are such that there is no need to go too fast between the tests, keep it safe. There are always people who get lost also, markers get knocked down pretty easy.

Since I couldn't make it during the weekend, I went out late yesterday and rode. They were still marking the course, but I was able to ride about 30 miles of it. They cut in some new tight 1st gear sections through the bushes and even went backwards on a portion of butt crack.

A couple pictures from yesterday (not part of the course, but it would be fun if it continued up the stream bed)

Looks like Rob N. gets day 1 win in Mag B class, about 9 minutes off of 1st OA time and 85th OA for the day. The times look really close. Looks like Rob nailed 1st special test with a 4 minute time, beating the winner of the Mag A class!!! Rob checked in via text last night, said he had a god ride, felt good and TE 310 ran great. LR checked in couple days ago by text, said he's doing day 2 today, so look for a Husky to be in top 5 today. Mitch
