  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC 15 fc 450 sputtering..ideas?

Hey all just got back from another awesome 4 day rip in the sand dunes. All the bikes ran great except the husky. 15 husky 450 only mod is fmf titanium can. So when bike was started from cold, starts up and idles fine, after proper warm up put it in gear and it would die. After doing this about 6 times it seemed to stop and fix itself. Then out on dunes bike was stalled and wouldn't start when hot and had to use choke a few times to get it started. And last while starting bike usually from cold, bike starts but after it starts it makes a whining sound for a second or two then sound goes away. Bike has about 15 hours on it now and has been meticouscly maintained. Sound is either fuel injection or starter my opinion, sounds more like starter. Never did this before and it all began on day 2 of riding. Thoughts...thanks

fuel pump? read it again still sounds like a fueling prob, reseat the ecu connector check for corrosion pin issues etc.

Yup agreed sounds like a fuel issue especially since the choke had to be on for it to start when hot. The noise after starting had me concerned, almost like starter sticking or fuel pump???

So cleaned out witches hat inline fuel filter not dirty at all. I think the stalling issue was a kinked gas cap vent tube. Still making the weird sound after start up so I took her to a buddy who knows ktm's/huskys all bikes actually and he says the starter is hanging up after start up. Only does it for a second or so after bike has started. Anyone else having this issue and thoughts on a fix besides replacing starter.
