  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 144 replacement piston kit etc

Where is the best source for the WR144 replacement piston/rings etc to do a top end.

My son just returned from Afgan and the legs are headed to LT Racing and the top end is a bit tired so time for a new slug and rings.

Thanx

HR

You should pull it apart and see if you really need a piston or just a new ring, as you probably know it is real simple. I do not have the piston kit but I would give you a new OEM 144 ring to say thanks for the service to him.

Yup, gonna pull the jug and check everything and obviously the PV cleaning etc (his bike was the Dirt Rider test bike)
Just wanting to see who carries the bits cause my internet search didnt really come up with anything on the 144 kit.
I will share your offer for the ring with him, Thank you! Im beyond happy he is home safe.

Now I just need the ring end gap so I can measure !

Walt sometimes has a very lightly used 144 piston around from 165 builds. Might ping him. Other than that Bills.

Ideally the squish with the .8mm base gasket is ~.045" with a new gasket. The gaskets collapse with time and end up at ~.040" which is ideal. The ring gaps new are going to be between .011"-.012". Obviously that can vary slightly but not much.

This isn't exactly what you need, but I have a complete 144 top end (head, cylinder, power valves, piston, rings, etc.) it all looks brand new even though I put on a max of 10 hours total. I'd rather not sell the piston/rings separate from the rest though.

I had to use a .3 mm base gasket to get mine to 1 mm (.040") quench. Stock gasket was .5 mm.

Still have the 144 kit available?

After a full season of off road racing I am looking for a water leak. Went in after the base gasket and am just amazed at the top end, looks just like the new take off 125 top sitting in a box. Just going to add gaskets and keep going.
