  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

13 TXC310 revalved suspension review

AA Class
After trying to ride my 13 TXC 310 with the stock suspension, it was obvious a revalve and respring was needed ASAP. With stock suspension forks were harsh, rode low in stroke and were all over the place. Actually parked bike after 1 lap at race. Knifed in the sand in 3rd gear and sent me over the bars. Also bike was very unsettled in faster grass track section. Shock wasn't as bad but was under sprung. My local guy Hitchcock Industries in Colorado got the call. Hes done 3 jap bikes for me. He has not worked on the Xlite Husky but knew all about forks and shock. Basically copies of 09 YZ susp. He assured me he would be able to the bike working right. He said rebound settings were pretty light in valving stacks and some other Italian weird thinking. He performed some other tricks on valving . For my weight (195lb) and ability (b rider) he used .50 fork springs and a 6.2 in rear. Took the bike to the race this past weekend. I had no time to ride before race. Course was fast, lots of sand washes, rocks, gotcha rocks. Fun fast course made even more fun when your riding a bike with suspension that works. The way I know if the suspension is working right is if I never think about it while riding. I never thought about what forks and shock were doing. Was able to push bike with no complaints from forks and shock. Forks were plush and never bottomed. Bike stayed straight on the fast sections and turned on a dime. Love it!! Price was roughly $600 with new spring front and rear. Made a good bike into an excellent bike!! Some background on tuner, he was A loops suspension guy in the 80's and 90's. He did the work for Rodney Smith and Steve Hatch and many other big riders during the heyday of racing GNCC's and Enduros.

I need to speak to someone who knows about these forks but all in UK are tight lipped as to what needs to be done, i.e. best shim settings etc for my weight/ability, they just want my money with no guarantee it will work!
