• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Good day folks...
Thought I'd post this request again.
Anyone have a NOS or decent used 12t large taper c/s sprocket they'd like to sell?

Cheers...Richard

Rich , I'm the guy who sold you the 11 tooth one from ebay. Jay from Moroney's H-D.

Jay...got it yesterday. It's on the 125WR...thanks!
Need a 12 for the 250 Cross...any sitting around the shop, fallen behind a an old workbench loaded with old shovelhead parts???

Sorry I just purchased the last one they had, but I would check out site on occasion as they randomly get stuff back in stock. Waited 5 months for the rod kit to my 360, worth the wait though. Site has pay pal, currency converter (British site), and a chart for shipping costs. They are great about responding back to emails.

We are having some made soon in 11 / 12 & 13 t. Also, we will be adding the full range of small spline husky sprockets...

Hope this helps!

Andy.

Good luck...I purchased the next to last one he had, but it was shipped in a simple envelope and fell out somewhere between there and here!
Hope your shipment has a bit sturdier packaging.

Honestly have had nothing but good luck with them. Being as the sprockets are getting hard to come by I am considering having a couple machined for backups.

Andy, I ran across a random thing the other day. On eBay someone had a 16t sprocket for large tapered shaft husky. Is this false info, and if not how much does it affect bottom end and what do you gain at top end? Say for instance on a 71 360.

11 / 12 & 13 tooth tapered sprockets should be with us tomorrow...

I will list them when I have taken the pictures.

Andy

Going up more than 1 or 2 teeth on the counter shaft sprocket will absolutely kill your bottom end. The only bikes I would put that large a counter shaft sprocket on are 500cc 2 strokes or open class 4 strokes.
Back in 1990 I raced the SCORE Parker 400 on my 1987 510 TX Husky. Knowing the course was very fast with 100 mph fire roads I fitted a 17 tooth counter shaft sprocket to the bike. At the silghtest whisper of a head wind the bike would fall off the pipe and would not wind out 6th gear.
Large counter shaft sprockets suck too much power out of the engine. If you are looking for more top end leave the counter shaft sprocket about stock and drop teeth off the rear wheel sprocket. Racer's rule of thumb is 1 tooth on the front equals 4 to 5 teeth on the rear.

its a trap all right. the Mallee desert Ralley was won for years by a bloke on a 360? bultaco geared to 78 MPH flat out... other bikes were geared to 90 - 100 mph but he slaughtered em in the tighter stuff and the speed advantage was insufficient to beat his early advantage.... important lesson there. speed is not always the easy way to win (unless its a speedway)

Good to know. Was considering it for cruising around, not so much racing. Seems a bit much though. Do you guys know reliable source for rear sprockets if I want to go that route.

The 430 XC in my avatar was geared to 16/28 when I got it would only start to clear its throat at silly speeds, a pig to ride elsewhere, went back to 13/52 and now pulls like a 4 stroke through the gears great fun on the road and off! (when I change the wheels over)

I have had excellent results and service from Sprocket Specialists in Richfield, Utah. Their toll free number is 1-800-782-8200. They can supply sprockets for just about any bike made. I believe they even custom make sprockets for "odd applications".
