  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

my 2011 txc449 started spitting and sputtering today while i was riding single track so i got out of the tight stuff and onto a dirt road and it will run fine at lower speeds but when i get on the gas it cuts out , seems to not be getting fuel???

2 things I would check: Coil connections (under load, your spark is weakening) and the fuel filter (you should be able to blow thru it easily, if not, it's probably too clogged to flow >43psi as is needed).

i did check the coil connection and there is no filter with this f i bike that i can locate.
thanks for the info though

ok i cleaned up the bike and checked throughout to assure all connections were tight, then i test rode it and no more sputter? is it a problem only when its hot???

My bike started to splutter and then cut out. It then started and ran for about 20mins then completely cut out. Then engine turned over but world not start. Took the seat off checked the battery connections still wouldnt start. Check the hd cap to the spark plug and that was okay. Pulled apart the two connectors sitting on the left side of the frame just above the plug cap and bingo she fired up I finished the race. Im not sure what these electrical components do or are called.

Did you connect the wires back together or leave them unconnected? Can you list the colors of the wires?

Check connections to two relays 8000A6749. Water in the connector blocks caused my bike to splutter to a hault

Perhaps it was some lousy gas? Do they put ethanol (or corn squeezins as I call 'em) in your fuel where you live? Mine just ran lousy for the first time at just over 400 miles on some single track a couple weeks back. I hadn't taken off the smog canister yet and so upon my return it fell off in the garage and I did a TPS reset. The reset takes just a minute and all you need is a phillips screwdriver.

Here's a link to the thread with the best instructions that I used:
