  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 TXC450 springing??

Darrell Drew

Husqvarna
I just picked up a 08 TXC450..pretty much new with about 15hrs on it.

I am 175lbs, riding single track and recreational offroad. Not high speed stuff and no MX.

The spring rates feel pretty stiff to me.

Anyone springing the forks a lil lighter?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the stockers are 48's and a 5.6 in the rear?
The forks have already been revalved by EE to take some harshness out of em'.

I was thinking of going to 46 fork springs and trying it as I am having the fork oil changed shortly.

Opinions/experiences??

Thanks

You should check your spring free sag and rider sag before you start swapping springs. IMO.

I am getting 90mm race sag with minimum preload on the rear shock.
I haven't measured the fork sag although the preload is backed off all the way at the moment.

I'm checking with the shop that did the fork revalve as it was done prior to me buying the bike.

I like the front end to be very reactive and plush over initial movement and small junk. This is my 1st bigger heavier bike as most my previous bikes have been lighter 2 stks with open chamber forks. New to the closed chamber forks and heavier bike.
