• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

08 TE 610 cuts out and wont run randomly.

DIRTBIKE

Husqvarna
AA Class
Riding home from work this afternoon while sitting at the lights my bike started running rough suddenly and then all of a sudden cut out and wouldnt start again. After about 20 seconds of turning over i pushed it off the road and removed my helmet so i could get a good look and listen if the fuel pump was operating and it was. Tried a number of times over the next 5-10 mins to start it and it started a few times but cut out quickly every time. Ive recently installed a power up kit and thought maybe the resistor had blown so i unplugged it and plugged the o2 sensor back in but still it wouldnt start, then just when i was loosing hope and the battery was getting flat she fired up so i put my gear back on and continued my journey only only to have it cut out and leave me stranded on the side of the road two more times on my 15 minute trip from work to home.

Anybody have any idea what might be going on?.
I washed it yesterday with a pressure washer so im hopeing its just water in one of the connectors but so far ive checked all of them except any i can only get to by removing the tank and they are all dry as well as the spark plug tube.

1st - pressurewashers are BAD NEWS for bikes!
2nd- sounds like a bad battery... That's what happens when they go.

yeah possibly battery. check your air filter too. pressure washing and the husky airbox don't mix!

If you haven't already disconnected every connector you can find and filled them with dielectric grease now would be a good time.

I know i know pressure washers are bad but i just cant help myself
Anyway turns out i didnt check properly for water in the spark plug tube after all having lifted the tank and pulling up the plug lead to find the plug half swimming in water on a closer inspection after work today. Fingers crossed thats all it was.

I had the exact same thing after pressure washing. Here is what caused it:

Remove the right rear side panel. You will see a bolt holding a metal plate with fuses connected to it. Follow the grey sheathing on the wires going to the fuses. If you follow this AWAY from the fuses you will see where it comes in contact with the subframe as it makes its way into the interior. Mine had worn through and shorted out against the frame. Easy to check and fix.

I hope that was it.

Bike broke down again today, once again it was still in the warm up process on my way to work about 1km from home she coughed and spluttered and died even though i tried giving it a few blips of the throttle as it started to die. Since my first ride when i got the bike ive noticed that as it warms up it surges and splutters, some times its barely noticable and sometimes its much worse and since fitting the PU kit it will not start cold and run until warmed up without the idle up lever keepin the revs up for the first few minutes. So basically it runs like crap until warmed up with the PU kit installed not to mention it doesnt go any better with the PU kit whatsoever but guzzles the fuel. The only reason i still have the pu kit installed is because it smoothes out the transition from no throttle to applying throttle which is a plus when in traffic.

If it werent for the cutting out and not starting for some time problem i'd be thinking i just need the PC5 to sort out the fueling but there must be another explanation for this. When i get time i will be pulling the fuel pump out and checking for water in the fuel (it did rain yesterday and the bike got a bit wet) and checking that the strainer for the fuel pump isnt blocked with crap (if it has one). As for what you guys have suggested i have checked and or done and everything looks good yet she still leaves me stranded.

Sounds like water somewhere. Sorry you're having so much trouble. I have 7k+ of trouble free miles on my 09 and those are hard off road miles.

My 610 left my stranded 2 miles in the woods today. Same symptoms as above. It was running fine then burped a few times and quit. Now it will intermittently light the cluster. But flashes a battery Icon on the screen when it lights. I guess I have some wires and a battery to check.

So, as you explain has been the EXACT symptoms for me for more than one issue..

1. Once over a 3-4 hour ride my bike went for almost imperceptible miss to worse than you described above as my battery bit the dust..

2. Same sysmptoms came and went over 2 rides, new water temp sensor fixed it..

3. Same symptoms, ended up being TPS needed to be reset, brought to dealer, Reset, came back to pick up bike, ran like crap as soon as I got there. They said it was just great. Changed out plug, ran great again. TPS being out of adjustment waste the plug?? I guess.

Also every above time, one of first things I did was swap out the fuel, obviously those instances that didnt do the trick.
Good luck...

What was the solution to this problem?
