  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey all new to the website this is my first post. I have a 08 te 510, and i am looking to purchase a larger fuel tank than the stock one. All I've come up with so far is a 3gallon IMS tank. Was wondering what some of you thought about it and if you have any other suggestions.

Thats not what i wanted to hear. Is therr any other options out there? I've seen some clarke tanks and some safaris but i havent be able to find them for the 08 te 510

Safari is a good quality manufacturer, contact them because the 2009-2010 tanks might fit.

I'm not sure the IMS is still made. Mine has leaked twice. Once for no reason but cleaning the gasket and reinstall fuel pump fixed it. The other time was with boiling fuel and high presure in the tank. Fixed itself when cooled off.

I've been looking at those aluminum fuel canisters you can put in your backpack. No leaks from the pump to tank seal! If you wanted to carry an extra gallon, its cheaper. You don't have to buy tank graphics either. I just can't justify the outrageous price for an extra gallon.

After about 5hrs on the new tank found a leak. So i took of the tank and pulled out the pump and cleaned the gasket and around the tank like shilo020 said, now no leek. I was wonderkng if you could maybe put some sort of sealant around the pump flange to prevent this from happening again, because i couldnt find any evidence as to why the gasket may have leaked.

It leaks because the tank bows between the mounting bolts, not enough thick-cast plastic at the flange bolt area.

I have this problem now, were you able to fix it? Im thinking of buying gasket paper and filling in the gaps because I have been everywhere and I called husky at emu plains and they want to charge $58 just for another rubber and I am not even sure that is the problem.Any help would be much appreciated I have two tanks an extra range and the stock one and it use to only leak on the extra range but now leaks through both :(

In OHR's photo you can see the mating surface isnt dead flat, that means uneven pressure from the viton o ring. Maybe you could try fuel resistant rtv. Put it on the tank side of the fuel pump o ring and mount the pump by only tightening the bolts by hand, then after 24 hours tightnen them home and it might fill the gaps.

I have a semi-clear IMS tank from my 09 TE510 that I'll be selling. Last owner had it own for a few years, no leaks. Just returning the bike to stock so i can sell it, so I don't need to keep the IMS tank.

I would recommend a new Fuel Pump o-ring, and maybe some 1315(?) ThreeBond when changing a fuel pump.

Personally, i like the look of the stock tank, but if you need the fuel, that is the way to go.

You might find the seat and side plates don't fit the tank because SWM redesigned them. I understand that a Husky seat and side plates are required for the conversion.
Keep us posted please.
