  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

04 450 fresh rebuild no compression

Pinittowinit

Husqvarna
AA Class
I did a complete rebuild on this motor. Bottom up ever seal ect. Ran fine until yesterday. Has a little over 100 miles on it. Buddy says it lost power. I picked it up and put it in gear. Pushed it and sure enough no compression. What might be the cause? I can't dig into it until tomorrow. My guess is bad exhaust valve.

My 08, and 09 did that. turned out the compression release was stuck. On the 08 the cable was just stuck from trash inside the cable.

Found the problem. The intake valve is busted. It looks to be stuck in the seat. I pulled the plug and saw no damage. Drained the oil and no metal. This motor had a few hours on since rebuild. I know the 04's had valve issues so such is life. Guess he is gonna update to the 06 valves.

Well when I rebuilt the engine I sent tge heads off to be inspected Since I am no valve expert. It's my understanding that the 04's valves were a weak point. In 05 they updated them Then again in 06 to tge dell west. He will most likely have me send tge head back and get it updated to tge newer valves. Oh well shit happens. I'll post up more pics as soon as I can pull the head.

Ur'r sounding like a hard charger on this engine ...

Lol you didn't see my engine rebuild thread? I love working on huskys. But really my motivation is I have too many bikes at my house now.

My memory is short sometimes ...but I do remember you showing some opened case before ...

Once I had several bikes ... can't ride'em but one at a time so someone is gonna sit idle ...
