  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Got the top end and radiators all squared away only to figure out why we could not get a good plug read.

Lots of extra air around the crank seal and the crank bearings are shot. After pulling the stator side cover I could move the flywheel up and down a click...

Staying home for the weekend and drinking beer...not happy.

Sorry to hear about that! Fyi, I. Used a prox rod kit from oem cycle $75 and the quality was excellent.
I would put one in while you are in there and also because of the heat stress.

Sorry you'll miss the National HS this weekend. I was thinking of going up to meet you. I hope to see you at Unadilla GNCC.

any idea of the # of hours on that bottom end? Have you thought about going with ceramic bearings for replacement?

Vin...klotz R50 @ 40:1, hi-test pump gas... We were out of town most likely 10% Eth.

Did you see the other post here in discussions? A lot more info about the failure. Lost all rad fluid and cooked everything before heat seizure. The oil that tends to collect and reside in the valve holder area in the jug was cooked to flakeing...

sorry to hear about staying at home, we've been in your shoes in years past. if it wasnt for Halls we would of had to stay home once or twice this year!

Kudos to all the dealers for keeping the bikes at the tracks!

I'll give a shout out for the guys at Toy Tech Cycles...We thought we were on track with the repairs we made. Just not enough time and parts. The 4th is going to make it difficult to get a few key parts and shop work done. But we sat down at the dealer on Saturday, figured out what was in stock and what else we needed to order... We need to pull off a complete rebuild of the lower unit and be on our way to Ohio by Saturday.

Wish us luck...

I have been able to source crank bearings and seals from my industrial vendors typically. Good luck
