• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC with electric start on 2t now its time.

It's time to unleash the old husqvarna two stroke power in a 390 / 400cc dirtbike?
I pray this happens in my life time but it's going to be close.
When the air cooled bikes went to liquid cooling the port timing could be tamed heat wise. The engines could more radical performance wise
But the hard starting for most of us the larger bores which were more fun and exciting to ride took a backseat. Now the two stroke electric starter has me thinking? Let's go to a two stroke oil injected two stroke enduro / dual sport. The options are limitless?
Now it's time to challenge the engineers.

Today's 300cc not enough for you Bill? Oil injected dual sport? I'd just go a thumper!

your no fun Al wheres ya sense of excitement(excessive HP)!?. dunno bout the oil injection Bill but im with ya on the plus 300cc 2 banga. 350-380 tops though I reckon. something you can still rev out hard(ish) without risking ya life ala 500cc! I still wana ride a 500 one day though on some open tracks just to see

Actually I like the 'big' bikes. I had a KX500 enduroised/registered. That was a beast. I was slower on it but the grin facter couldn't be equaled! The way that bike idled on the side stand had to be seen and heard! :) That had to go after a head on with a TT350 as the forks were never the same again! My last bike I bought new was a 525. Recently I've been considering a WR360 but considering I'm getting on a bit and slowing up I may settle for a 300. :)

It was fun to play on the street with my registered 98 husky 250wr. The electric starter on the newer two strokes has opened up the thoughts of going to more cc's. On the street having the oil injected would eliminate the hassle of mixing. I think a 390cc to 400cc with today's liquid cooling would be awesome. Think about it a 390/400cc enduro and a motard? Two stroke? That's killer.

Go for the gusto get the 360 you can always throttle back the twisty. But the increase in power is a twisty away if needed.

My 99 husky TE610e thumper dual sport was a fun ride but I like hearing the popcorn noise in the 2t pipe. At a point when the popcorn noise gets intense you know the front wheel is coming up. I'm sorry the little kid comes out of me but it's so cool.

Sorry I just think out of the box.

"I'm sorry the little kid comes out of me but it's so cool." Nothing wrong with that Bill...my first 2T in 3 1/2 decades and it won't be my last!

"you can always throttle back the twisty" You bet, it has always been my method!

I tend to think you won't see anything too soon though.

Big bore 2 strokes are some of the most fun bikes to ride. I built a cr500/KTM hybrid this year. It's a surprisingly a good woods bike, with a pro circuit pipe, and flywheel weight, although I wouldn't want to ride in bar lock to bar lock tight tree sections. The KTM frame and suspension provide an excellent platform for the motor, and remove a lot of the issues with the noodley handling of the cr platform. I added an automatic decompressor to the head, so it kicks over like a 250. A rider on KTM talk was fabricating new side cases to add e start to a similar build but I don't think he finished.

Street wise the oil injection makes sense. It can be regulated for flow from the throttle.
The new 2t outboard motors exceed the EPA guidelines so it is possible.
This could open up many possibilities in endure, dual sport and motard with 2t new technologies.

This could breath new life in the 2t's.

I ran the Suzuki TS-185( '72 & '77) & the TS-250 (74) on the street legally.
It's was a hoot to ride these early dual purpose bikes.

I think with the new designs were going to hit the end of the road with the new technology sooner or later. It's time to look back at the older designs and possibly update them and blend them into the new designs. We have plenty of off road bikes but I don't think we seen the nitch yet for the dual sport 2t yet. Just something for a country ride or to kick up some dust on an old logging road.
